650 nm is effective for hair removal and as a result is one of the most commonly used wavelengths found on most IPL machines. Lasers are far more effective at removing hair at 810nm as 650nm tends to target dark hair on fair skin best.
SHR vs IPL?
IPL handpieces commonly fire at a frequency of 1 Hz. (Shots per second). SHR essentially stands for ‘Super Hair Removal’ and basically means that the machine is optimised for firing up to approximately 10 Hz on some machines.
